Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that the Senate will summon Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho to grill him over recent remarks he made.

Speaking during an interview on Radio Citizen on Wednesday, Sifuna revealed that CS Joho has forgotten that as a Minister, his remarks carry more water and he cannot talk like a politician.

"We will summon Joho to the Senate buildings so that he can explain why he was threatening Kenyans. The problem is that Joho has forgotten that he is no longer a politician, no longer a governor but a minister, and his sentiments as a minister are taken very seriously," Sifuna revealed.

According to Sifuna, as a Minister, Joho has a responsibility to ensure that his sentiments are sensual and he should be accountable for everything he says.

"We shall summon him for an intense grilling, ask him questions, ask him why he is threatening those questioning the government," the senator revealed.

The Senate which is headed for recess until February will summon the CS in February 2025. The Nairobi senator revealed that even though the senate was going on recess, they will not forget and will summon him in February when they resume.

Sifuna was responding to sentiments Joho had made on Tuesday while in Taita Taveta. Joho slammed social media users who spent their time criticising President William Ruto's administration.

The former Mombasa governor threatened to start confronting bloggers who occupy social media platforms to criticize Ruto's administration.

“A country cannot be built through the internet. It cannot be built by people whose work revolves around Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Let me put them on notice. We can also talk. If they bring us trouble, we can also bring equal trouble,” the CS remarked.

The Cabinet secretary was referring to the uproar by Kenyans that led to President Ruto canceling two Private Partnership deals the Kenyan government had signed with the controversial Indian Conglomerate, Adani.

Speaking in Taita Taveta, President Ruto also rebuked Kenyans who were rejecting all of his projects, terming them as evil spirits.

"There is an evil spirit of opposition—opposing everything."

"They oppose affordable housing, the vaccination of cattle to eliminate diseases, changing the system to save our universities, and even universal health coverage. They oppose government projects and even offerings in the church!" President Ruto noted.
