The driver and operators of a matatu owned by President William Ruto's son George Ruto have been treated to a rare invitation to attend the State House banquet.
The operators of the matatu which plies the Ngong route, while celebrating the recognition, revealed the news of their invitation via a short video seen by Kenyans.co.ke.
Victor Gataka, the matatu conductor expressed his excitement while revealing the news of the invite, disclosing that it will be his first time attending such a high-profile event.
''His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto and Her Excellency the First Lady Rachel Ruto, request the company of Victor Gataka, Boniface Thuku, Stanley Mwangi, and Dominic Amaya Mweya, requests the company and pleasure of joining us at State House Nairobi on December 12,'' read part of the three different letters sent to the crew.
''We will be going to State House tomorrow with no formal education as you can see,'' Gataka shared on Wednesday evening.
George Ruto made news this year after investing in the matatu industry when he bought a popular Nairobi matatu called Manifest.
According to reliable sources who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, in an exclusive story, Ruto purchased the matatu valued at Ksh8.7 million.
Ruto also bought another matatu-branded Matrix after he noted that it stood a better chance of defeating his own at the awards.
Matrix, at the time of purchase, was plying route number 33 which includes parts of the greater Eastlands in Nairobi.
The President's son has been stretching his financial muscles in the matatu industry and has often come out openly to interact with his employees, at times taking pictures driving.
The three will be joining other high-profile guests at the State House in Nairobi for after Jamuhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi.
