President William Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, has announced an opportunity for Kenyans to win nearly Ksh200,000, giving a chance to millions of youth.

Taking to her official X, Charlene revealed that the competition dubbed the Website Design Competition, will allow youths aged between 18 and 35 years to showcase their prowess in website design and stand a chance to win 1,500 USD (about Ksh194,145 in the current exchange rates).

"It’s time for our next big thing... the website competition! Are you between 18 and 35 years old? Team up in groups of 3 and show us what you’ve got," Charlene wrote. The competition will run for 30 days.

To enter the competition, participants must team up as a group of three, share links to three websites the team or members have created, and send a short technical proposal for the website they would create for The Young People's Network International platform.

Participants must also attach IDs and profiles of all three team members.

The challenge is open from today, Saturday, January 11, and application submissions will end on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

According to Charlene, some of the requirements that participants should take note of are that the website must have a youthful appeal, give vibrant, modern visuals, and use The Young People's Network International (TYPNI) colours.

The website should also prioritise a layout optimised for mobile viewing, simple to navigate with clear intuitive navigation, and suggest features that encourage user interaction and community building.

Participants have been informed that the website should have readable fonts and high-contrast colours for inclusive designs. It should also have unique features that propose creative elements that would make the design memorable and stand out.

This is not the first time Charlene has involved the youth in designing elements of the TYPNI.

In March 2024, the first daughter announced a similar competition where youths were invited to design its logo.

The winning designer was awarded a cash prize of Ksh100,000.

Additionally, they had the unique opportunity to meet and dine with Ms. Ruto, adding a level of personal touch to the accolade.
