Kenya Power has refuted reports it has advertised for 241 jobs across various sections of the country’s principal electricity utility company.

In a post on its social media accounts on Friday, January 24, Kenya Power cautioned Kenyans against falling prey to conmen purporting to be offering jobs.

"The company is pleased to invite applications from qualified and interested Kenyans for the following vacancies across the country," the fake poster read in part.

The post that has since been flagged advertised 67 intern openings, 32 posts for cleaners, 12 for guards, and nine posts for drivers.

Other openings advertised were 21 for maintenance technicians, 15 for electrical technicians, and 14 for financial accountants.

The post also asked Kenyans to apply for store manager positions (41), customer care representatives (17), and data entry staff (13).

The advertisement directed interested job seekers to send applications through an email address provided with February 3 set as the deadline for submitting the applications.

Kenya Power, in its short post, posted the fake poster showing the openings and called on Kenyans to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to such scams.

In November last year, the Ministry of Health through the Social Health Authority (SHA) flagged a fake job alert purporting to recruit masses for vacancies ahead of the disbanding of NHIF.

The recruitment poster bearing all the brand colours of SHA and the seal of the government solicited applicants to make applications for various job openings.

Positions in 28 different categories were advertised, ranging from human resource officers, social workers, office staffers, and cooks among others.
