Two people lost their lives on Tuesday following a tragic road accident that occurred near Limuru along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

The accident reportedly involved a vehicle belonging to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) and a Probox ferrying milk.

According to reports, the two people who died were occupants of the Probox which was heading to Nairobi and was overtaking when it collided with the KeNHA vehicle.

Occupants of the other vehicle escaped death, albeit with injuries.

While confirming the accident, Limuru Police Commander Mary Gachie urged road users to be cautious and to adhere to traffic laws.

"The one that was coming from Naivasha towards Nairobi overtook carelessly whereby it met an oncoming vehicle belonging to KeNHA and there was a head-on collision," she stated.

Witnesses at the scene decried the poor nature of the roads calling on the government to intervene and reduce the accidents which had reportedly increased in the area.

"I want to urge the government to help us by expanding the road because this Rironi-Mau Summit road is very narrow and accidents are increasing daily," a witness stated.

This accident comes just a few days after another road crash in Jusa, Taita Taveta County, led to the death of seven people including five students from Dr Aggrey Secondary School.

According to reports, the students were being ferried home by the school bus when its brakes failed and it overturned.

Parents have since raised concerns about the abrupt nature of the school closure that led to the students travelling home late in the evening without sufficient communication with them.
