The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has cautioned motorists to prepare for temporary traffic disruption at the Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway.

Addressing the public on Friday, February 28, KeNHA Director General Kungu Ndung’u stated that the disruption is expected to last for one month, from Monday, March 3, to Monday, April 7.

The KeNHA boss disclosed that disruption would be occasioned by scheduled road works for the construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section of the highway.

Motorists planning to use the road were urged to be cautious while approaching the section of the road and follow the proposed traffic management plan.

Ndung’u further revealed that police officers and traffic marshals would be deployed to guide motorists and take action on those going against the traffic rules.

“KeNHA would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway (A8) Road,” the KeNHA boss warned.

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," he added.

The latest update comes a day after motorists plying Lang'ata Road were urged to prepare for occasional traffic disruption due to an upcoming event by Grammy Award Winner Burna Boy.

Burna Boy is set to host a music concert at Uhuru Gardens, off Lang'ata Road, prompting event organisers to warn motorists of potential gridlock.

With the event gates expected to open on March 1 at around 3 pm, motorists have been advised to make early travel arrangements along the route to avoid inconveniences.

"We would like to inform you that the upcoming event at Uhuru Gardens, off Lang'ata Road, will cause significant traffic disruption. Expect road closures and congestion, especially at the start of the event," the organisers stated.

They also urged Kenyans planning to attend the concert to use public transport instead of private vehicles due to limited parking space at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
