Jubilee Party Chairperson Jeremiah Kioni has assured that the party will remain in the opposition and has no intention of joining hands with the Kenya Kwanza side.

Addressing the press on Saturday, March 15, Kioni said that the party would remain keen on keeping the government in check until the 2027 general elections.

According to the chairman, the party is focused on producing candidates, including the former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, who are expected to show interest and clinch the country's top seats to cement the party's place in government.

"Parties are already trying to form a coalition heading to 2027, but we as Jubilee are not going to form any coalition until we have our branches functioning at every level, and you know you are aware many people are saying that we have our own presidential candidate who is called Fred Matiang'i; all these things are preparations of many things to ensure that the pastry is functioning," he said.

"We are still in the opposition, and we are going nowhere until we make the government through the ones who will be chosen by Kenyans. We hope that when the coalitions are formed, Matiang'i's name will emerge among the other people who have shown interest in this country," he said.

Kioni further asserted that the agreement signed by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga to see the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) work together will still not convince Kenyans to side with the current regime.

"UDA is a sinking ship, so trying and joining it will just make you sink with them. Raila is a senior in politics, but sometimes you might think things are in a particular way, but when you approach them, they are different, and I think he saw that when he was in Kisii region," he said.

Earlier this year, on January 25, 2025, Kioni expressed optimism that Matiang'i would easily beat Dethrone Ruto in the 2027 polls.

"We as the Jubilee Party have our own candidate, Fred Matiang'i. He will face off with the others to ensure Ruto goes home," Kioni stated.

"If we all agree to come together and vote, Ruto will not win even if he appoints Kimani Ichung'wah or Kamket as IEBC Chairperson. We must agree that all his supporters are the wrong people for this country," he added.

Kioni also urged Kenyans to embrace minority communities, asking the Mount Kenya Region officials to step aside and let another community in power.

Reflecting on the president's recent move to conduct development tours across the country, which Kioni describes as an early campaign, the Jubilee Chairman warned that the tours are bringing more harm than good to the people and will, in turn, continue worsening the government's reputation with the people.

"William Ruto has never left the sunroof, he has been running the country on the sunroof, and again he has decided to start early campaigns, and unlike any other presidential candidate, he has decided to us goons to the point where he has brought back thuggery levels in Nairobi in a manner unseen," he said.
