Popular car dealer Khalif Kairo was arrested again on Tuesday, March 25, with fresh charges leveled against him.

Kairo was arrested at the Milimani Law Courts shortly after three other ongoing cases in which he is accused of conning clients were mentioned.

This time, Kairo was arrested over fresh allegations of fraud. He was accused of taking full payment from a client for a BMW but failed to deliver the vehicle.

Footage seen online showed Kairo clad in a dark grey suit in handcuffs but still maintaining high spirits with the car dealer surrounded by individuals believed to be police officers.

The popular car dealer is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.

Kairo, who is perceived as a 'boastful' personality, gained fame for his attention-grabbing online car sales marketing stunts, which earned him a large following.

Kairo, who has faced numerous court battles over failed business deals related to car sales, spent much of the final days of last year and early this year defending himself in court.

In the aftermath of his latest arrest, Kairo termed his detention as “politically motivated." In a cryptic post, Kairo seemingly alluded that his troubles are a result of sabotage and witch hunt adding that he would bounce back with the support of Kenyans.

"This is politically motivated. Every time I start waking up, getting deals here and there, and going back to work, the arrests mysteriously begin. No summons, no nothing. And conveniently, cameras are always rolling, even inside police stations," Kairo remarked.

“Can’t keep a man who is determined to win down. We will overcome everything. Keep praying for me, keep supporting and keep wishing me well. It's a tough economy that doesn’t favour youth-driven enterprise but calm seas never make good sailors,” he expressed.

According to the car dealer, the ongoing cases which have negatively impacted his brand, have also led to the closure of his offices.

''We have tried everything in our ability to try to resolve these issues amicably and ensure we do deliveries but the negative media publicity and constant police involvement are putting us in deeper waters and severely affecting our ability to operate. All our offices are currently closed,'' Kairo once shared.

The dealer has continually maintained his innocence even as the allegations of the fraud amount to tens of millions of shillings.

''I have had an impressive ten-year run in business with zero criminal cases pertaining to cars and thousands of people have successfully bought cars from me,'' he added.

His troubles triggered enormous debate online with Kenyans divided on whether he was innocent or rightly implicated in the fraudulent activities.
