George Oduor, a long-term aide to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, is dead.
Reports indicate that Odour passed away at Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday evening after being hospitalised for two weeks.
Oduor had been a close associate of Raila for many years, often seen as his bodyguard, and was a familiar figure at Raila’s events and engagements.
In the wake of his passing, Orange Democratic Party’s Communications Director Phillip Etale mourned him, crediting him for the impact he had on his life.
“This is one man who stood by me at all costs. I have lost a friend. Big bro. Rest Easy, George,” Etale stated.
Oduor served as an aide to Raila for over two decades and was lauded for his constant availability and assistance to the former PM.
Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai also mourned Oduor, expressing his gratitude to him for his service and mentorship.
"Wah, George Oduor! Rest in peace, my brother. I will miss your wise counsel and guidance. You were more than an aide to Baba. You offered us brotherly advice and sought to mentor us,” he stated.
Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi also joined in sending a message of condolence to Oduor and those close to him, terming him as one of the most reliable servants of Raila.
“A soldier who has seen it all, a man of all seasons! George has been Baba’s most dependable bodyguard. Wuod, “Seje”, go in peace!” Atandi condoled.
At the time of publishing, Raila had yet to issue a statement in the wake of his aide's passing.
Even so, Oduor's demise was seen as a big loss to Raila, his team, and those who knew him.
