The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has outlined the payment procedure for candidates seeking to apply for degrees and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 2, five days after the placement service formally opened its application portal for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort.

KUCCPS had in its previous announcement stated that the application portal would remain open for three weeks, with the application window closing on April 21, 2025.

However, some of the candidates have since expressed challenges in making the payments, with others reporting that the payments did not reflect on the application portal. To resolve the menace, KUCCPS went ahead to publish the payment procedure to help ease the process of application.

How to Pay

According to KUCCPS, once the candidate completes the course selection process, they will be required to click the submit button. The applicant will be prompted to initiate the payment.

As per the placement service, a candidate is required to pay Ksh1,500, which is made through the eCitizen platform.

The portal will display a variety of payment options, including mobile money and bank payment methods. The applicant will be required to choose their preferred payment method.

After making the payment, the candidate is required to click the “I have paid” button. A message containing the eCitizen payment reference code will be sent to the applicant through a Short Message Service (SMS).

According to KUCCPS, the applicant is required to enter the eCitizen payment reference code in the provided slot and click Submit to complete the payment.

Candidates were advised not to use the mobile money transaction code in applying, as it would be declined by the online system.

While announcing the payment procedure, KUCCPS warned candidates against deteting the payment message, as the same reference code would be required for any subsequent changes to their application.

The latest notification comes barely two days after the placement service listed support centres for students facing challenges in submitting their applications.

KUCCPS, in a notice on Tuesday, April 1, revealed that it had set up support centres in all 47 counties for students who require guidance and advice on courses to pursue.
