Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja is hospitalised in London, according to area governor Susan Kihika.

Ms Kihika made the announcement during an interview on a vernacular station on Thursday, and wished the senator a speedy recovery.

The two leaders have been at loggerheads for some time now.

"I want to wish a quick recovery to Senator Tabitha Karanja, I know she is in a hospital in London," the governor said.

She added, "I was taught that if someone is sick and you do not agree with one another, you are not supposed to punch someone who is down."

This comes weeks after Senator Karanja took issue with Kihika's maternity leave, saying the latter had not properly communicated with the people of Nakuru.

"Our concern is not that our Governor, Susan Kihika, went to give birth. In fact, if that is true, we want to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Nakuru people, to congratulate her, and we are very happy for her. We heard she had twins and would love to thank God on her behalf because that is a double blessing," Karanja stated on March 26.

"In short, the county government is at a standstill as we speak. Our other major concern is that there were serious issues left behind, including, among others, the reopening of the War Memorial Hospital, which the court ordered to be reopened last year, yet up to now, it has not been opened," Karanja added.

According to her, the law clearly states that the transfer of instruments of power should have been published in the Kenya Gazette to notify residents of a change in leadership.

While responding to this, Kihika, who has since resumed her duties, said children are a blessing from God and even leaders deserve to be given time to look after their newborns.

"I want the Senator to know that children are a blessing from God, and there will be no instance where we cannot have children because we are leaders. We are expected to have kids, have a family and lead.

"I do not have any problem with her as long as she knows her line of work and I do my work. In 2027, I know what she wants..." said Kihika.
