Kenyans who applied for the 2026 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program or Green Card Lottery can now access the results after the US officially released them on Saturday, May 3.
The US State Department of State revealed that the results will be available for all who applied from May 3 to September 30, 2026.
''DV-2026 Entrants may enter their confirmation information through the link below starting at noon (EDT) on May 3, DV-2026 Entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2026,'' the department announced.
The results come amid a long wait by applicants who were speculating about the date for the announcement.
Kenyans were among those who had been invited by the US to apply for visas from October 2 to November 5, 2024. Applications were submitted electronically through the official Department of State DV Program website.
All those who participated in the applications have been advised to visit the Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website using the unique confirmation number received during the DV-2026 online registration.
"You must remember to check the DV lottery results yourself online using your confirmation number. If your confirmation number is lost, retrieve it through these steps," the statement continued.
Successful candidates will be directed to a confirmation page with further instructions, including information on fees related to US immigration.
The next steps in the immigration process include completing the Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application, submitting the required documents to the US Embassy, and attending an interview.
The Department of State, however, clarified that being selected in the DV Lottery does not guarantee one will receive a visa. Selection means one can move forward in the DV Program.
Applicants have been warned to beware of fraudsters sending them emails or messages alleging that they have been selected, with the US asserting that they will not send anyone emails or messages.
"The Department of State will not send you a letter or an email to let you know if you have been selected. And it will not ask you to pay in advance for an application," applicants were warned.
If you checked the DV Lottery results, were selected, and have the qualifications, you can apply for an immigrant visa. If approved, you would be able to travel to the US, become a permanent resident, and get a Green Card.
