The late Kennedy Kamau Wangari's body will arrive at JKIA on May 5 at 11:10am, and lastly, the late Benjamin Kioko Ndunda's body on May 6 at 11:10am.

Sonko concluded his statement by thanking the individuals involved in ensuring the repatriation of the three individuals, including those in government offices.

"I wish to convey my special appreciation to Madam Terry Mbaika, PS aviation, KQ Ceo Allan Kilavuka; the Kenyan Embassy/consulate in UAE; and the funeral committee in Sharjah, UAE, led by Timothy, for all your tireless efforts in making this a success. May the Almighty God rest the deceased souls in eternal peace," Sonko stated.

The three passed away on Sunday, April 13, when an inferno broke out in a 52-story residential building in Sharjah, claiming five lives, including the three Kenyans.

They are suspected to have been among those who fell to their demise while running away from the inferno that took place on the 44th floor of the tower. The building was said to have housed at least 1500 people, mostly immigrants.

While confirming the incident on Tuesday, April 12, the Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roselyn Njogu stated, "I regret to inform you that 3 Kenyans are among 5 casualties that passed on following an inferno that occurred in Sharjah, UAE, on Sunday."

"My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased diaspora. We stand with you to offer support during this difficult time."

On Tuesday, April 22, Sonko expressed his willingness to cover the cost of the repatriation of the three bodies, sharing that he had received a quotation of Ksh200,000 for each of the bodies.
