Kenyans have expressed joy and excitement after passengers aboard an ENA Coach bus heading out of Nairobi assisted a woman in delivering her baby after she went into labour during the journey.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning as the bus departed Nairobi at 7:30am, heading towards Nyamira and Kendu Bay.
Willish Adur, the ENA Coach Social Media Manager, in a phone call with Kenyans.co.ke, said that the passenger went into labour after departure near the Ngara flyover. According to Adur, the expectant mother began experiencing labour pains, forcing passengers to take action.
“Today, we are lucky that we got a visitor on one of our buses after just celebrating Mother's Day last week. Our Nairobi-Kindu Bay-bound bus left Nairobi at 7:30am."
"I was lucky to be in one of the buses that carried a passenger. We successfully delivered the baby our way in Nairobi. The bus left Nairobi around 7:30am. On reaching Ngara just on top of the flyover,” Adur said.
According to the report, a woman with childbirth experience promptly came forward to assist, helping to lay the mother on the bus floor.
The driver was alerted and pulled over to ensure a safe delivery. Another passenger joined in to assist, and the baby was born moments later.
Following the successful delivery, the mother and newborn were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
ENA Coach expressed gratitude to the passengers and crew for responding to the emergency swiftly.
This heartwarming event follows closely after Mother's Day celebrations, highlighting the extraordinary acts of kindness and solidarity among strangers.
