A bizarre incident was witnessed in Garissa County recently, after a Member of the County Assembly stormed a restaurant wielding a knife.

In CCTV footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the Garissa-based MCA was captured on video dramatically storming an establishment while brandishing a knife and chasing a group of terrified women.

The footage, dated May 17, 2025, initially shows two women rushing into the restaurant in distress before the MCA follows seconds later, swinging the knife with one hand.

Things turned more alarming as the MCA was seen on camera aggressively pursuing the women around the dining area and into the restaurant's kitchen, disrupting normal services at the establishment.

Inevitably, the altercation caused panic and confusion, with staff and patrons seen on CCTV scattering for safety. At some point, a mild stampede erupted at the entrance of the restaurant as customers and staff tried to flee from the chaos.

The MCA appeared undeterred by the chaos he had caused and continued tearing down the restaurant by tossing chairs. He eventually stops his rampage before making his way to the kitchen, where he oddly salutes a group of individuals before marching out while still holding the knife.

While no one was severely hurt from the incident, the three-minute video has since caused outrage online, with sections of Kenyans calling for legal action to be taken against the lawmaker, whose behaviour has been described as reckless and dangerous.

Confirming the incident, Garissa sub-county police boss Samwel Boit said investigations were underway to determine the circumstances that led to the MCA's actions.

Boit also assured the public that the matter would be treated with seriousness and action would be taken against the involved parties if found guilty.

The incident was similar to another one from June 2024, when a former MCA came under scrutiny over gun drama in Embu Town.

The former lawmaker, a licensed gun holder, is believed to have gotten into an altercation with a reveller at a club before the situation escalated into a shooting.

In the 2am incident, witnesses recounted how the MCA got into a heated verbal altercation with another club-goer before firing several warning shots in the air before fleeing the scene.
