CSs Mbadi, Chirchir & Kagwe Make New Appointments to Govt

Several Cabinet Secretaries have made appointments and reappointments in their respective dockets.

In a gazette notice dated June 5, 2025, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi reappointed Jedidah Karwitha Mwiti as a member of the Board of Directors of Consolidated Bank Limited for a term of three years.

The CS further re-appointed Molu Koropu Tepo and Francis Nkako as Board members of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) for a three-year term.

The CS made further changes to the KNBS board after appointing Kennedy Ogolla as a member for a three-year term.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) board oversees the collection, compilation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of statistical information.

The board also plays a vital role in coordinating the National Statistical System (NSS).

"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (d) of the Statistics Act, 2006, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— Under subparagraph (iv)—Kennedy O. Ogollah (Prof.) to be a member of the Board of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th June," the notice read.

On the other hand, the treasury boss reappointed James Kimonye as a member of the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) board. According to  Mbadi, Kimonye will be a member of the board for three years.

The NCPD board is responsible for promoting and coordinating population and development programmes, analysing population issues to develop relevant policies, and providing leadership and advocacy for these programmes.

At the same time, his counterpart, the Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary James Chirchir, re-appointed  Lewis Mutuiri Gitonga as a Board member of the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) for three years.

The KRC board is responsible for providing a coordinated and integrated overall direction for KRC's operations, overseeing the management team, and ensuring the company's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

The Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, has appointed Rosemary Kittony a member of the Board of Trustees of the Commodities Fund for a period of three years.

This board is responsible for developing loan products, providing credit to farmers and other players in the agriculture sector, and collecting repayments.

Lastly, the East African Community (EAC) Cabinet Secretary, Beatrice Askul, reappointed Koome Kiragu as a board member of the National Drought Management Authority for three years.
