Three government entities have announced a mass auction of vehicles and office equipment.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, the Kenya Power Lighting Company (KPLC), and the Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) announced auctions in notices on Tuesday, even as the three government institutions invited those interested to bid for the items.
For the Sports ministry, the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy announced a public auction of used tyres, used batteries, toner cartridges, curtains and sheers, granite and motor vehicles.
The auctions are set to take place at Kencom House, Third floor, Room No. 344 in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) from 11 am on June 27.
Interested bidders were required to view and assess the conditions of all items they intend to buy before the public auction date.
Key requirements for bidders included a ten per cent refundable deposit to get a bidding number. Successful bidders would have their deposit applied to their purchase, while unsuccessful bidders would receive their deposit back within seven days.
Full payment for purchased items is due within seven days, with a 20 per cent cash payment required at the time of bid acceptance. The State Department also directed items to be collected within 14 days to avoid storage fees and forfeiture.
For KPLC, a public auction for motor vehicles, motorcycles, plant, assorted tyre casings, used Batteries, assorted vehicle spare parts, and used oil is set to be held on Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27, at The Kenya Power Transport Depot Ruaraka Yard off Thika Road.
The auction will commence at 10am. Bidders were directed to pay a refundable deposit of Ksh100,000 for up to three motor vehicles. For three motorcycles and any assorted item(s), one was required to pay Ksh10,000. Bidders were also directed to pay a fee of Ksh110,000 for up to three motor Vehicles and three motorcycles.
On the other hand, KLDC declared the disposal of obsolete stores, machines and equipment, inviting bidders to bid on the items before June 20.
“Interested Bidders may obtain and inspect the Items to be sold during office hours at the designated locations from 0800 to 1700 hours except lunch hour 1300-1400 hours East African time,” KLDC stated.
Amongst the items on auction included obsolete furniture, fittings, equipment, computers, printers, copiers, ICT gadgets, production Machines, equipment and assorted footwear accessories.
For interested bidders, a complete set of disposal documents can be obtained electronically from the Council's website free of charge or KLDC’s Procurement Office on the fifth floor of CPA Centre, Thika Road upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh1000.
