CS Ogamba Releases 2025 KUCCPS Results, Lists Nursing Among Most Preferred Courses

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has officially released the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) results for the 2025 placement cycle.

Addressing the press on Tuesday afternoon in Nairobi, the Education CS disclosed that out of the 244,563 candidates who qualified for degree programs, 201,695 of them applied for placement to various levels.

According to him, KUCCPS had so far placed 310,502 students in various programmes in both universities and colleges, with the majority of applicants consisting of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students.

With regard to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) slots, Ogamba announced that 52,725 candidates applied for placement against a capacity of 34,048.

The CS went ahead to reveal that most of the KMTC applicants sought diplomas and certificates in nursing, which he said attracted more than 27,000 applications.

Other courses listed among the most preferred by KMTC applicants included programmes in clinical medicine and surgery, medical emergency technician and community health.

He further noted that this year, the placement service received 20,786 applications from candidates who sought to join diploma in teaching programmes.

Ogamba reiterated that out of the 20,786 candidates who applied for the teaching courses in various colleges, 11,636 of them secured slots, with 10,800 already placed for a diploma in primary teachers' education.

"In addition to this, a further 836 applicants have been placed for a diploma in secondary teacher education with a capacity of 2735," Ogamba announced.

During the presser, the CS also highlighted that one notable achievement during this year's application cycle was the introduction of a diploma in law, which he said had 500 openings.

"A positive development was the introduction of the Kenya School of Law with a diploma. The law programme received overwhelming interest, and all slots were filled," he said.

On the placement to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Ogamba stated that 93,207 applicants applied for various training programmes, with most of the applicants already placed.
