Conversely, in the North Eastern region of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, Gikungu stated that the maximum daytime temperatures would hit 37°C.

Other regions that would experience similar temperatures during the five days included counties in the Northwestern region, such as Turkana and Samburu, where maximum temperatures were listed at 36°C.

Even so, the counties in the Northwestern and Northeastern regions would experience cold nighttime temperatures of 7°C and 16°C, respectively.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, Gikungu predicted cold nights of up to 6°C  and a daytime average of 29°C.

Kenya Met stated that Kenyans based in Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, and Kakamega counties would experience such temperatures.

The forecast comes as the country heads into the cold season, with Kenya Met warning of an increase in respiratory illnesses and foggy skies.

However, in the five-day forecast, Kenya Met noted that certain regions would experience relatively higher temperatures. Counties such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale County, as well as coastal parts of Tana River County, were forecasted to have nighttime temperatures of 21°C and daytime temperatures of 31°C.

In the South-eastern lowlands of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as inland parts of Tana River County, Gikungu disclosed that nighttime temperatures would be 12°C and 29°C during the day.

Meanwhile, Gikungu revealed that the weather temperatures would be accompanied by rainfall in several regions across the country.

According to Gikungu, rainfall is expected over the Highlands East & West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Northwestern Kenya (Turkana and Samburu), and the Coast. The intensity was predicted to increase from Sunday in the western and northwestern regions.

In Nairobi and its surrounding areas, Gikungu stated that showers and light rains would be accompanied by cloudy weather breaking into sunny weather.

In counties encompassing the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, Kenya Met forecasted storms and thunderstorms over several places over the five days.

At the same time, the Kenya Met boss revealed that strong southerly to south-easterly winds, with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s), are expected over the Coast (including Kenya’s territorial waters), the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
