In a statement shared by the Head of State, he described the custodian of the Islamic Sharia as a devoted man who gave his life to the service of humanity and led the Muslim faithful with unwavering dedication, humility, and wisdom.

Adding that, ''We pray that Allah brings comfort to his family and the entire Muslim community at this time of sorrow. Rest in Peace.''

Ruto joined several other Islamic public figures who had initially mourned the Sheikh, including Health CS Aden Duale, who also described him as a great scholar in the Islamic faith.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. (Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.)  Following the death of our scholar, brother, and religious leader, the Chief Khadi of Kenya, Brother Abdulhalim Hussein, in Mombasa,” he stated.

“He was a great scholar and leader of the ummah, humble and soft-spoken; I miss a brother,” Duale added.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula also mourned the cleric, remembering him for his steadfast leadership of the Muslim community.

''Our thoughts and prayers are with our Muslim brothers and sisters and with the family of the Chief Kadhi of Kenya, Sheikh Abdul-halim Hussein, who passed away early this morning. Sheikh Abdulhalim will be remembered for his steadfast leadership of the Muslim community, his humility, wisdom, and courage,'' Wetang'ula shared.

As a Kadhi, the cleric held a crucial role in the administration of justice, particularly matters relating to the personal law of Muslims under the constitutionally established Kadhis Court.

The courts deal with matters of marriage, divorce, inheritance, and other family matters based on Islamic law.

Additionally, the Chief Kadhi has a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Islamic jurisprudence within the Kenyan legal system.
