Security agencies in Naivasha have retrieved the body of Jane Wambui, the Head Nurse of Paediatric Care at a facility in Naivasha, who was reported missing on Sunday, July 6.
In a statement on Thursday, July 10, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that it had apprehended Wambui's househelp, who is the prime suspect in her murder.
According to Naivasha OCPD Anthony Keter, who spoke in an interview with TV47 on Thursday, July 10, the recovery was made after the suspect led police to the location where the victim was buried.
Keter stated that the body was found in a shallow grave, approximately three feet deep, just behind her house. Wambui went missing on Friday, July 4, 2025, after leaving her workplace en route home according to DCI.
"On Sunday, we received a missing persons report, and after investigations, we have been able to arrest one suspect who has directed us to where the body of the victim was buried at the premises of her house in a shallow grave around three feet," Keter said.
According to the OCPD, security agencies in the county have intensified investigations to uncover the circumstances that led to her death and to apprehend everyone else who was involved.
"So far, we have no conclusive answer on what happened or who was involved, but the investigations are ongoing, because we also want to find other people who are involved," Keter said.
This is not the first incident this year where security agencies have found people dead within properties they are associated with under mysterious circumstances.
In April, security agencies in Migori County found two people dead within the premises of St Joseph Mission of Africa Church in Kochola Village, Migori County, under unclear circumstances.
According to a report from Kamagambo Police Station, the body of one of the deceased individuals was found lying on the floor of a prayer room in the church on Sunday, April 20.
Police stated that the other body was also found within the church compound. One of the bodies had facial injuries and was wrapped in a white cloth, according to the report.
"The scene was processed, and necessary action was taken. The body was removed to Rosewood Mortuary pending postmortem," the report stated.
Police further rescued 57 people residing within the church, aged between 5 and 77 years, who were described as weak and frail.
