One fatality has been recorded following a late-night accident near Makindu along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The accident, which left 10 others critically injured, was caused by a crash between a Dreamliner bus and a tuk-tuk on the highway.
Reportedly, the accident happened around midnight and was allegedly caused by a disruption from a tuk-tuk when the bus was travelling from Nairobi toward Mombasa.
Those injured were ferried to Amref-Kibwezi Hospital, with one more receiving treatment at Makindu Hospital.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene, and traffic congestion continues to be reported in the area, with authorities urging motorists to exercise caution as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
Videos seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the passengers of the bus disembarking from the bus as onlookers helped some of the others outside.
This is the second accident that has been reported within a few hours of each other after an MP Shah Chania High School bus was involved in an accident on Saturday night.
The accident took place at Kinungi along the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway when the bus collided with a lorry.
As opposed to the Mombasa-Nairobi accident, however, the students were left unharmed, as the accident was relatively minor.
However, the accident threw a wrench in their plans, as the students were forced to stay the night in Naivasha before embarking on their journey on Sunday morning.
A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed that the bus had caused a temporary traffic disruption, leading vehicles to reroute to go on with their journey.
Traffic marshals and police officers were also spotted on the scene helping direct the traffic.
