The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially released the shortlist of candidates for the position of Registrar of Political Parties and Assistant Registrar of Political Parties.
In the official notice dated August 7, PSC shortlisted a total of 10 candidates for the Registrar position, while another 10 have been named for the Assistant Registrar role. The interviews are set to take place on Monday, August 11, at the PSC offices on Harambee Avenue.
''To reform and transform the public service for efficient and effective service delivery. The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties shortlisted candidates for the positions of Registrar of Political Parties and Assistant Registrar of Political Parties. The Political Parties Act, Cap 7D,'' the notice read in part.
''After considering the applications, the commission shortlisted candidates,'' the notice continued.
For the Registrar of Political Parties, the shortlisted candidates include Ali Abdullah Surrar and Sophia Sitati, who was recently appointed Acting Registrar following the departure of Ann Nderitu, now serving as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Sitati previously served as Chief State Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General.
Other candidates include Geoffrey Obonyo, Everlyne Koiyan, Alloys Ndege, Mercy Wambua, Dr Manana Rodgers, Rahma Jillo, Lorionokou John Cox, and Florence Tabu Birya.
For the Assistant Registrar position, the PSC has shortlisted Seth Onyango, Simon Nyamolo, Josephine Ergaoe, Chebet Koske, Julius Cheche, Peter Muthui, Agatha Wahome, Mohammed Abdullahi Abdi, Robert Borter, and Gilbert Opanga.
The assistant is expected to support the Registrar in executing regulatory and supervisory duties under the Political Parties Act.
The Registrar of Political Parties plays an important role in overseeing the registration, regulation, and monitoring of political parties in Kenya.
The office also administers the Political Parties Fund and ensures compliance with the Political Parties Act, making it one of the most pivotal roles in Kenya’s political landscape.
Kenyans are invited to provide any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through affidavits to the PSC Secretary or CEO, either via email or by visiting the offices in person.
Kenyans have been asked to participate in the vetting actively, as the outcome of this recruitment will have long-term implications for political transparency and institutional integrity.
