The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that its portal is now open for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) applications for the September 2025 intake.
In a statement on Saturday, August 9, KUCCPS invited candidates from the 2000–2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohorts to apply for their preferred courses.
To boost access, the placement service has reduced the application fee from Ksh 1,500 to Ksh 500.
The application period runs from August 8 to August 22, 2025.
“KUCCPS has reopened TVET placement applications for the September 2025 intake, from August 8 to August 22, 2025. The application fee has been slashed from Ksh 1,500 to Ksh 500 to boost access,” the notice reads.
Students are urged to apply for courses at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and other institutions at student.kuccps.net before the deadline.
The KUCCPS website also provides detailed application guidelines, a list of available institutions, programs, and their specific requirements.
The minimum grade requirements for admission are a C- for Diploma (Level 6), a D for Craft Certificate (Level 5), and an E for Artisan Certificate (Level 4).
Applicants are encouraged to seek assistance from TVET institutions or Huduma Centres before the application deadline.
How to Apply
To begin the application process, candidates should visit the KUCCPS portal. Upon accessing the portal, they will be prompted to enter their KCSE index number, the year they sat for the KCSE exams, and a password.
Students are advised to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as their password.
The KUCCPS application portal includes a wide range of institutions, including 41 public universities, 29 eligible private universities, and 32 university TVETs, all of which are eligible for government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding.
In the 2024 KCSE exams, out of 962,512 candidates, only 246,391 scored a C+ and above, qualifying for direct university admission. This leaves 605,774 candidates who are expected to apply for TVET programs this year.
