The Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) has announced a new round of recruitment, offering job vacancies in various positions, including chief principals and deputy principals.

According to a notice published on Tuesday, August 12, TSC advertised 21,000 vacancies in senior teacher, head teacher, deputy head teacher and senior curriculum support positions.

In its announcement, the Commission called on potential candidates to submit their applications through the TSC online portal before Monday, August 25, 2025.

"Successful candidates shall be posted to schools where vacancies are available. Manual applications shall not be considered," the Commission clarified.

While urging Kenyans to apply, TSC expressed its commitment to upholding transparency in the selection process, including the consideration of people with disability.

At the same time, the Commission also invited applications from qualified candidates to fill 24000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum.

To qualify for an internship post, a candidate must be a Kenyan citizen and hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus).

Similarly, the applicant must have achieved at least a mean grade of C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects and must also be registered by the TSC.

The Commission also revealed that the applicant should be unemployed and must not have an existing record of teaching under the TSC's leadership.

"They must have a Personal Accident Insurance cover for personal risks during the internship period, and the selection of candidates will strictly be on merit and based on the number of vacancies per county," TSC announced.

Kenyans who wish to apply for the internship positions will be required to submit a copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate or a print-out of the same from the TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher.

They must also submit a copy of their National Identity Card (ID), two colour passport-size photographs, and a copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN.

According to the Commission, the internship duration will be 12 months. "This is not a remunerative engagement. However, interns attached to junior schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000," TSC stated.
