Nairobi and Kiambu Among Regions to Receive Rain, Chilly Conditions This Week - Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in three regions to brace for more rain, chilly conditions, and strong winds between Tuesday, August 12, and Saturday, August 16.

In its weekly forecast, the department said that Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya will experience continued rain this week.

Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley are also expected to experience cold and cloudy conditions this week. According to the weatherman, the coast, South-eastern, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya might also be hit by winds exceeding 25 knots.

The department predicts that Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties will experience sunny intervals in the morning throughout the week, and showers over a few places in the afternoon.

At night, these counties may experience showers in a few places for most of the week, apart from Wednesday and Thursday nights.

The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 27°C, while the minimum temperature will be 08°C.

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, might experience daylong sunny intervals and cloudy conditions during the night.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 30°C, while the minimum temperature will be 09°C.

Daylong sunny intervals are set to be experienced in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County,  while nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

These counties are expected to experience a maximum temperature of 30°C and a minimum temperature of 19°C.

Throughout the week, rains and showers accompanied by thunderstorms are set to hit Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties both during the day and at night.

The maximum temperatures during this period are expected to be 30°C, while the minimum temperatures will be 11°C.

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are set to experience sunny conditions throughout the day and cloudy conditions at night. The maximum temperatures are predicted to be set to be 35°C, while the minimum temperature will be 14°C.

Turkana and Samburu counties are set to experience daylong sunny intervals for most parts of the week, apart from Friday and Saturday, when it is expected to rain throughout the day.

The Maximum temperatures according to the weatherman in these areas will be 35°C, while the minimum temperature will be 08°C.
