Police in Kayole have apprehended two suspected masterminds of an electronics robbery syndicate in a well-coordinated operation.
According to the police report, police officers from the Embakasi Police Station launched the investigations after a report of a stolen iPhone 15.
Acting on undisclosed but actionable intelligence, the police officers revealed that they were led to an apartment building in Turin Court, Mihang'o, where the two were nabbed.
A subsequent thorough search of the residence led to the discovery of the iPhone, along with a treasure trove of other electronics, including other phones, laptops and sound systems.
In total, the search unearthed 321 assorted mobile phones, seven laptops, various mobile phone covers, laptop chargers, a music system, and two speakers.
Following the discovery, the items were confiscated to be used as exhibits, with the National Police Service (NPS) thanking members of the public for the crucial tip.
NPS further lauded the swift collaboration between the Kayole and Embakasi officers that led to the arrest of the perpetrators.
"The National Police Service commends members of the public for providing the crucial information, as well as the swift coordination between the Kayole and Embakasi officers, which led to the successful arrests and recovery," the statement read in part.
The two men are in custody at the Embakasi Police Station, awaiting processing and eventual arraignment in court.
In April this year, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two other individuals who had stolen Ksh17.6 million worth of electronics during the Easter break.
The two carried out the heist at a warehouse in Embakasi, breaking into two go-downs while the staff was out for the long weekend.
Among the electronics stolen were 363 pieces of 43-inch Hisense TVs, 20 pieces of 20-inch HB TVs, 11 sets of HS 218 soundbars, four HP laptops, two mobile phones, desktop computers, school bags, spare parts, and CCTV servers.
