The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has directed all National Government and County Government entities that applied for reflective number plates to collect them.
In a notice issued on Friday, August 29, NTSA announced that it had extended its working hours over the weekend to facilitate faster and seamless issuance of processed plates.
The Authority revealed that its office in Nairobi would remain open on Saturday, August 30, from 9am to 3pm to facilitate the collection of the reflective number plates.
On normal days, NTSA offices mostly remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays, although the entity usually has special weekends for specific events, mainly for clearing backlogs.
"The NTSA Nairobi office will be open on Saturday, 30th August, from 9 am to 3 pm to facilitate the collection of reflective number plates by National and County Government Entities," NTSA announced.
While making the announcement, the Authority called on government entities that have yet to apply for the plates to do so before the lapse of the window.
According to NTSA, all government parastatals are required to apply for the reflective number plates by August 29, with entities facing application challenges urged to send their enquiries to numberplates@ntsa.go.ke.
"Application is online via the NTSA service portal. Clients only visit our offices to hand back the old plates as they collect the new generation plates," NTSA clarified.
The latest announcement comes a week after the Authority unveiled a dedicated portal for Kenyans who seek to confirm the status of their number plate and driving license application before collection.
In a statement on Tuesday, August 19, NTSA stated that motorists seeking to know the status of their number plate or driving license application are required to first log into the eCitizen portal and navigate to the status service portal.
For motorists who want to know the status of their number plates, they are required to use their vehicle registration number, while those seeking to know the status of their driving license are required to use only their National Identification numbers.
According to NTSA, once a motorist submits their details on the portal, their inquiry will be forwarded to their specific collection centres in the form of a complaint.
