Former Nyeri Woman Representative, Priscilla Nyokabi, is among the 100 candidates shortlisted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for the position of High Court Judge.
In a statement, the commission announced that it had shortlisted 100 candidates for appointment as High Court judges following a nationwide recruitment drive.
According to the JSC, a total of 377 applications were received by the closing date of July 7, 2025.
The shortlisting came after JSC advertised 20 vacancies in the Office of the Judge of the High Court of Kenya.
“Upon reviewing all submissions for completeness and compliance with the eligibility criteria outlined in the advertisement, the Commission shortlisted 100 candidates for further consideration for appointment as Judges of the High Court,” the statement reads.
According to commission, shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage of interviews and other assessments in line with the JSC's procedures.
JSC also noted that the interview schedule for the shortlisted candidates will be communicated in due course.
It also invited members of the public to provide any information of interest regarding any of the 100 shortlisted candidates to write to the Secretary JSC, adding that it will be treated confidentially.
"Members of the public are invited to avail in writing of information of interest," part of the statement reads.
Commission added that any member of the public who submits information of interest may be interviewed about the shortlisted candidate.
"Take note that commission may interview any member of public who has submitted information," commission added.
There are also serving magistrates in the shortlist including Chief Magistrates David Wanjohi, Lucas Onyina, Nathan Shiundu Lutta, Letizia Muthoni Wachira Rwiga, Esther Boke, Harrison Onwimba Barasa and Alex Kimanzi Ithuku.
Nyokabi had lost her seat during the 2018 General Elections after serving one term as Nyeri's first Woman Rep.
