The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved the prosecution of David Geoffrey Ombiro, an administrative officer at the Kisii County Assembly, for his alleged involvement in fraud-related offences.

In a press statement, the DPP confirmed that Ombiro would face two counts of deceiving a principal, meaning he is accused of misleading or cheating his employer.

Essentially, he is accused of misleading his employer and using his position to dishonestly obtain a benefit in the Kisii County Assembly.

The DPP also confirmed that Ombiro faces three counts of forgery for illegally creating and altering official documents.

The officer will also be charged with three counts of using a false document, as he was accused of using and presenting fake documents.

This decision was made following a review of the evidence provided to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on June 19, 2025.

The ODPP has confirmed that it will continue to uphold the law and ensure justice for all.

"This is after a thorough and independent review of the file and evidence submitted to the ODPP on June 19, 2025," the statement read.

"The ODPP is dedicated to doing its job according to the law, for the public's benefit, and to ensure justice is served," the statement added.
