CCTV footage showing the last moments of slain lawyer Kyalo Mbobu has emerged, revealing how his murderers might have trailed him from his office to Magadi Road in Nairobi, where he was shot dead.

According to the footage, on Tuesday morning at around 6:35 a.m., Kyalo arrived at his office, located at Town House along Kaunda Street, dressed in a suit and wearing a red tie.

He checked in before proceeding to the ground floor, where he picked up newspapers from the desk of the security officers manning the building, before heading to his office on the ninth floor.

Around 10 a.m., Mbobu was captured walking out of his office, with the footage showing him conversing with a woman in the corridor before returning to his office.

Later that day, at around 5:14 p.m., the CCTV footage captured the city lawyer leaving his office and taking the elevator to the ground floor. The footage showed another man leaving the same lift that Mbobu was using.

Moments after walking out of the building, a man dressed in black and carrying a bag on his back was spotted making a call near the premises.

The anonymous man could then be seen immediately ending his call after Mbobu walked past him. He was then captured walking in the lawyer's direction.

Those who interacted with Mbobu during the fateful day said he seemed fine and did not show anything unusual.

"During the day, he met a client and I saw him, and he went for a meeting at around noon and came back at around 2:30 p.m. and continued with his work," said Mbobu's colleague.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have now zeroed in on the man who was spotted standing and making a phone call outside Mbobu's office premises.

CCTV footage obtained by the detectives showed Mbobu driving through Wabera Street and Parliament Road, continuing onto Lang'ata Road and finally to Magadi Road, where he met his fate.

While the detectives continue to piece together Mbobu's final moments, DCI officers have since identified two people linked to the incident. According to the officers, the two are among those the lawyer met on the day he was killed.
