A man was killed by a mob in Samutet village, Kericho county, after he hacked his mother, a child and his sister-in-law to death.
Angered by the man's actions, residents beat him mercilessly, leaving him for dead in the incident on Thursday
While it is not clear what triggered the man to hack his family members to death, the authorities allegedly arrived at the scene long after he had succumbed to his injuries, and the cause of his actions was never revealed.
However, the police officers managed to calm the residents down and contain the situation before taking away the bodies.
Two Died and One Injured After Collapsed
In other news, two people died and another worker remains in a critical condition after a water tank they were repairing collapsed in Juja.
The injured worker was taken to Naindu Hospital in Makongeni, Thika, where he is currently recovering.
Juja Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege stated that the incident occurred while five workers were repairing the tank.
The tank buckled, trapping three people, two of whom died on the spot.
He revealed that the structure being repaired was made of iron sheets with concrete pillars.
Ndege said that the workers had been called in to repair the tank, which is used by a local industry.
According to media reports, preliminary findings suggest that the concrete pillars supporting the tank had been weakened, causing it to collapse.
Ndege added that inspectors from the Kiambu County Government were at the scene investigating the incident.
