Nairobi, Kiambu Among Areas to Experience Afternoon Showers, Cold Nights This Weekend, Kenya Met Reveals

Nairobi and other areas east of the Rift Valley, including Kiambu, Nyeri and Meru, will experience afternoon showers and cold nights, while areas in the Lake Region will experience thunderstorms in the afternoons, Kenya Meteorological Department has warned.

In a statement on September 26, Kenya Met stated that the forecasts will cover the next five days from Friday, September 26 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025. 

The weatherman also predicted that highlands West of the Rift valley, North Western Kenya and Rift Valley will experience showers during this period.

Areas in Highland East of the Rift valley including Nyeri, Murang’a, Meru, Kiambu and Nairobi, will experience cloudy mornings that will break into sunny intervals. These areas may also experience light showers in the afternoon, according to the latest forecast.

Kenya Met predicted that these areas will experience a daytime temperature of about 29°C and it could drop to 5°C in some areas at night.

It also predicted that areas like Kericho, Bungoma, Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisumu and Bomet will experience morning showers and afternoon thunderstorms throughout the week.

Residents in these regions will experience a temperature range between 8°C at night and 32°C during the day.

Turkana and Samburu will experience showers in the morning with sunny intervals in the afternoon. They also experience hot temperatures, with 36 °C daytime and 7°C to 8°C at night.

The department added that Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa and Wajir will remain hot and dry. They will experience a temperature of around 37°C during the day and with minimum temperatures between 14°C and 16°C at night.

In South East lowlands regions, Machakos, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitu and Taita Taveta will experience a sunny intervals during the day, and at night it will be partly cloudy. Temperatures will remain warm throughout the week from 30°C to 32°C during the day.

Weatherman also predicted that in Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and the coastal parts of Tana River, weather conditions will be sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. There will be a chance of light showers and temperatures will range between 30°C and 32°C during the day, while the minimum temperatures will stay between 21°C and 23°C.

However, the department warned of strong winds of about 46 km/h in parts of the coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
