The Ministry of Public Service has announced the mass recruitment of drivers under permanent and pensionable terms, with a basic salary of up to Ksh24,000 and allowances.
In a notice dated Tuesday, September 30, Public Service Principal Secretary Jane Imbunya called on eligible Kenyans to apply through the Ministry's portal before October 22, 2025.
According to Imbunya, the recruits will be responsible for driving the government vehicles as authorised and carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems.
The individual will also be tasked with undertaking maintenance of work tickets for the vehicles assigned and ensuring security and safety for the vehicles on and off the road.

For shortlisting, an applicant must have at least a mean grade of D plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
An applicant must also have a valid driving license that is free from any current endorsement for the class of vehicle an officer is required to drive.
The individual must have attended a first-aid certificate course lasting not less than one week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognised institution.
Additionally, the applicant should have passed the suitability Test Grade III with at least two years of driving experience and have a police clearance certificate.

Shortlisted drivers will earn a basic salary of between Ksh19,340 and Ksh24,470 with a house allowance that will be disbursed per the region they are deployed.
The driver will also receive a commuter allowance of Ksh3,000 per month and a leave allowance of Ksh4,000 per year.
Those seeking to apply were directed to submit their application by filling out the Application for Employment Form PSC 2 (Revised 2016) available on the Public Service Commission's website.
