Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on Nairobi residents to be as proactive as CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo and record instances of vehicles contravening road laws.
In a video response to the journalist's video, in which the Kibera MP was captured in a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, he warned Kenyans that there were vehicles, including ambulances and others with siren privileges, that used the signal to go through traffic, even in times without an emergency.
"There are some ambulances that follow the wrong side deliberately. Others do not even have sick people in them, but they will use the way to do their own things. Maybe they are carrying a healthy person that they want to get through traffic easily," he warned.
As such, he directed traffic police officers to be wary not only of the ambulances but also of other vehicles with siren privileges, especially the ones that infringed upon laws without an emergency.
"Let us all follow the rules, and also, if you see an ambulance with a siren on, most of them have an emergency, so please make way for them," he said.
"But if you see it manoeuvre through traffic, then park on the side of the road and the occupants leave, go close and take photos of the details of the ambulance so that action can be taken and they can be apprehended."
On Thursday, October 9, Madowo clashed with Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero, for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road.
According to the video clip posted on social media, Madowo had declined to make way for the lawmaker and instead attempted to stop the legislator from passing on the wrong side when the confrontation ensued.
The MP's driver was then heard arrogantly insulting Madowo and directing him to take his grievances to President William Ruto.
"These people were driving on the wrong side, and so I decided to block them," Madowo stated. The lawmaker and his driver were then heard shouting, "Go and report it to Ruto."
Defiantly, Madowo responded that he would indeed take it to Ruto, later sharing on social media that he was seeking a flash disk to store the video and drop it to Ruto.
As such, in his video, Mosiria directed Madowo to present the video to him, and he would make sure it got to the President.
