Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a 17-day temporary closure of a section of Likoni Road in Nairobi to allow rehabilitation works.
In a statement released on Wednesday, October 15, KURA announced that the section of road would be closed from October 15 to 31 as part of the urban road improvement programme.
The authority advised motorists to be prepared for likely traffic disruption between the BAT industrial area and Jogoo Road during this period.
KURA advised motorists to use the Outer Ring Road, Lunga Lunga Road, Enterprise Road and Lusaka Road as an alternative route.
“Likoni Road (BAT Industries–Jogoo Rd Junction) to experience delays from 15th to 31st October 2025 due to road rehabilitation works.”
“Kindly use alternative routes: Lunga Lunga, Outer Ring, Enterprise & Lusaka Roads. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the statement reads.
According to the authority, the road will undergo drainage improvement and road surface restorations.
Heavy vehicles using the Lunga Lunga and Outer Ring Road are urged to use main diversions, while light traffic users heading towards the Central Business District are urged to use Enterprise and Lusaka Roads.
Motorists were also urged to plan their travel in advance to avoid congestion in the area.
Sections of Likoni Road connects the major routes accessing the City stadium, Jogoo Road and Industrial Area.
The notice by KURA comes days after Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) on October 13, announced a two-month partial closure of a section of Thika Road to facilitate rehabilitation to improve pedestrian safety.
It stated that the affected sections will be the Nairobi-bound and Thika-bound service lanes at Kihunguro from October 20 to December 20, 2025.
