The body of Edward Too, a deputy principal at Kapkilaibei High School, has been found floating on the Itare River days after reportedly going missing.
Bomet County Police Commander Edward Ibwaga confirmed the incident, stating that a 49-year-old teacher’s body was in the river a few kilometers from Konoin East Police Station.
He stated that Too's wife had earlier reported the matter at Konoin Police Station that her husband had been missing since October 18, 2025.
“The deceased had been missing since Saturday, October 18, 2025, according to initial reports from the family,” Imbwaga said.
Koiwa location Chief Emily Koech, in a police report, stated that she notified police officers immediately after spotting the body floating in a river.
Detectives from the Konoin Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and officers from the police station visited the scene and retrieved the body.
Deputy Principal's body was taken to Kapkatet Subcounty Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.
According to Ibwaga, after officers recovered the body, the family was asked to identify it, and they were able to positively identify it.
In the report, police said there were no visible injuries when the victims' bodies were retrieved from the river.
Ibwaga asserted that detectives from Konoin have already launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of his death.
“Our officers are on the matter to investigate and establish what happened leading to the death of the teacher,” Imbwaga stated.
Bomet KUPPET Branch Vice Chairman Peter Bett issued a statement urging DCI to immediately look into the matter to determine his death.
He added that Too was a well-trained educator who had done an incredible job at Kapkilaibei Secondary School.
