Three police guns, including two AK47 rifles and one G3 rifle, have been stolen from police officers in two different attacks by unknown individuals.
The first incident involved the attack of a single police officer in Menengai, Nakuru County, where his AK47 rifle was stolen.
According to reports, the officer was found outside the Ngata Police Post with a head injury after the attack.
Since he was found dazed and confused, he was unable to tell his colleagues where or how he was robbed of the weapon.
The gun was loaded with thirty 30 bullets at the time of the robbery.
The other two weapons, an AK47 and a G3, were stolen from the armoury at the Maguguni Police Station in Thika.
According to a police officer who was on patrol at the time of the robbery, he responded to the sound of dogs barking near the armoury when he discovered the theft.
Reportedly, one of the iron sheets on the armoury wall had been removed, and the padlock had been broken.
On venturing inside, he reported seeing that the steel storage box had been opened, and the two firearms and 150 rounds of ammunition were missing.
Investigations are still ongoing to uncover the perpetrators in both incidents, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
The reports come days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that four suspects who allegedly stole a firearm from a police officer during the burial of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had been arrested.
Reportedly, the suspects had stolen the firearm from an officer who had escorted Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa during the burial on October 19.
