The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has reminded all health facilities, doctors and dentists to renew their licences for 2026 before the deadline.
This reminder was issued after the KMPDC deadline was extended from October 31 to December 31, 2025, in order to give practitioners more time to complete the process.
In a statement, the KMPDC urged all medical and dental practitioners, community oral health officers and health institutions to complete the renewal process in advance to avoid a last-minute rush.
“This is to notify you that the Online Portal for the renewal of annual practice licences for all practitioners is now OPEN.”
“You are therefore required to renew your 2026 licence before 31st December 2025. The online portal can be accessed through https://osp.kmpdc.go.ke,” part of the statement reads.
The commission also warned that practising without a valid licence is a regulatory offence that could result in penalties, including suspension.
As part of the renewal process for 2026, all licensed medical and dental professionals must update their biographical data.
Meanwhile, all health facilities should also submit returns detailing their current operational status.
"All health institutions registered by KMPDC are required by CAP 253, Laws of Kenya to renew their operating license annually within the stipulated period. Sec 15 of the Act stipulates that no premise shall be used as a health institution unless it is registered and licensed by the Council."
"Section 22 of the Act further criminalizes the use of an unlicensed premise as a health institution. It is therefore the responsibility of the directors of each health institution registered by KMPDC to ensure strict compliance with the Law," part of the notice reads.
According to the council, the updated information is essential in maintaining the accuracy of the database of practitioners for easy monitoring of professional conduct countrywide.
Health facilities are required to report any changes, such as relocation, changes to services offered, or changes in ownership, to the KMPDC without delay.
