Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has announced the full restoration of traffic flow along the Madogo-Bura-Hola Road, which was closed on October 29, 2025.

The authority stated that the disruption to traffic on the highway was caused by flowing water, which made it impassable.

In a statement released on Saturday November 1,2025, KeNHA announced that the road had reopened to facilitate the smooth passage of vehicles in the area.

The authority also thanked local residents and motorists for their patience during the repair period.

“KeNHA wishes to inform the public that traffic flow has been reinstated along the Madogo - Bura - Hola (B89) Road, which was cut off earlier, and has been reinstated,” the Authority said.

"This paves the way for the smooth flow of traffic in the affected areas," the notice read in part.

According to the authority, the affected areas stretched between the 31km and 37 km marks from Bangali Centre, which has experienced heavy rainfall since Monday.

Floods and Flowing Water

The authority closed sections of the road due to damage caused by floods and flowing water following heavy downpour in the area.

“The road sections which have been flooded may experience increased water levels if the rain continues,” KeNHA said. then

“All road users and motorists are, therefore, advised to exercise patience and caution so as to allow water levels to subside before proceeding with their journey,”  Luka Kimeli, the Acting Director General said on October 30.

Engineers and emergency response teams were then deployed on site to monitor the situation.

KeNHA thanked motorists and local residents for their patience during the repair period.

“The Authority appreciates the patience of travellers and all road users during the restoration period,” the statement added.
