Former National Youth Service (NYS) members interested in joining the police force are encouraged to visit the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka for the recruitment process.

In a statement issued by the service's Commandant General Samson Kiptum on Sunday, November 16, the recruitment centre will serve only ex-NYS candidates who hold a valid NYS Discharge Certificate.

The certificate, according to Kiptum, will also serve as a gate pass for the candidates to access the recruitment grounds at the Nairobi Holding Unit (NHU).

Additionally, ex-NYS participants must also meet the requirements that have been outlined by the official Kenya Police recruitment advertisements, according to Kiptum.

"Following the release of the addendum to the Kenya Police Recruitment Advertisement 2025, which added Ruaraka (NYS Headquarters) as Recruitment Centre S/No. 423, the Employment Liaison Office wishes to communicate that the recruitment exercise will be conducted at NHU Grounds, off Thika Road, opposite Utalii Hotel," Kiptum said.

Candidates were also advised to download and complete the Police Constable Application Form, which is available from the National Police Service.

"The Employment Liaison Office advises all esteemed Ex-NYS members to prioritise reporting to their respective Sub-Counties, as emphasised in the official Kenya Police recruitment advertisement. This is especially advisable given the short notice of this communication," Kiptum said.

The police recruitment is set to take place on Monday, November 17, across 427 centres across the country.

In a statement on Friday, November 14, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said that the recruitment exercise will take place from 8am to 5pm, with at least 10,000 new constables set to be recruited.

“On 31st October 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) placed an advertisement in all the leading daily newspapers, announcing the recruitment of 10,000 suitably qualified youths to be trained as police constables,” Kanja stated.

“The recruitment is confirmed to proceed as scheduled on Monday, 17th November 2025, from 8 am until 5 pm at all 427 recruitment centres across the country. It is a one-day exercise,” it added.

The statement came hours after the High Court lifted the suspension of the recruitment exercise, paving the way for the long-awaited process to begin.
