The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has activated the online portal for checking the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) provisional results, ahead of the official release.
A spotcheck by Kenyans.co.ke confirmed a note displayed on the KNEC results portal, which indicated that the results checking system was currently live.
However, the message displayed on the portal stated that checking of the KCSE examination provisional results would only be available once the exam council formally releases them.
"2025 KCSE Provisional Results: Checking of KCSE Examination Provisional Results will be available after official release," read the note in part.
The early activation of the portal is a routine step by KNEC, which is aimed at ensuring the system is fully functional and capable of handling massive traffic once results are made public.
KNEC's move also seeks to minimise delays and technical issues that often arise when tens of thousands of candidates, parents and teachers attempt to access results at the same time.
Once the national examinations are released, candidates will be required to enter their index numbers and examination year on the portal to view their provisional results.
KCSE Exam Release Date
The latest development comes hardly two days after Education Cabinet Secretary, Julius Ogamba, dismissed viral social media claims that the Ministry had released KCSE exams.
In a statement on Saturday, January 3, Ogamba refuted claims that the results were already out and that Kapsabet Boys had allegedly topped nationally.
"Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves," Ogamba flagged the post, labelling it fake and misleading.
Nonetheless, in a separate announcement a week ago, while attending Omogusii Cultural Festival at Kenyoro School Groups in North Mugirango, the CS clarified that the results would be released within the next two weeks.
"The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks. Traditionally, the KCSE examinations are normally announced in January, and we are keeping it to that tradition," Ogamba said.
KCSE was concluded on November 21, 2025, after about five weeks of continuous examinations, which commenced on October 21.
