The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has shortlisted 185 candidates for positions in the Court of Appeal, High Court, and the Environment and Land Court, with their interviews set to kick off early next year.
The shortlisted candidates had applied for various positions, including Judges of the Court of Appeal, Judges of the High Court, and the Judge of the Environmental and Land Court.
The application process kicked off in June this year, and a total of 714 applications were submitted to the commission for the positions.
According to the commission's secretary, Winfridah Mokaya, in a gazette notice dated November 14, the commission shortlisted 35 candidates for Judges of the Court of Appeal, 100 candidates for High Court Judges’ positions, and 50 candidates for Judges of the Environmental and Land Court.
From the shortlisted candidates, only 15 will be appointed as Judges of the Court of Appeal, 20 as Judges of the High Court, and 10 as Judges of the Environment and Land Court.
Mokaya has said that the commission will interview the shortlisted candidates from January 12, 2026, to March 23, 2026.
"On the 9th June, 2025, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) advertised the underlisted positions and invited applications from qualified persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the positions," the notice read in part.
"Following the shortlisting exercise, it is notified for general information that JSC will interview the shortlisted candidates from the 12th January, 2026, to the 23rd March, 2026, at the JSC Boardroom, CBK Pension Towers, 12th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi," it added.
The commission has encouraged the members of the public to ensure that they submit any information of interest regarding the shortlisted candidates before the interviews begin.
The information may be submitted by hand to the Commission’s offices at the CBK Pension Towers, sent through its official email, or delivered via postal mail.
"Take note that the Commission may interview any member of the Public who has submitted information on any of the shortlisted candidates, and such information shall be kept confidential," the notice read.
"The Judicial Service Commission is an equal opportunity employer. Please note that JSC recruitment services are free of charge," it added.
