People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua now says that President William Ruto’s government is on the brink of collapsing following the demise of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
During an interview with TV47 on December 23, Karua claimed that the stability of Ruto’s government was anchored around the late Prime Minister.
“If there is someone heavily bereaved politically, it is Ruto. Without Baba’s presence, he will not get unified support. Even now, he is not so sure that he can make it another year,” Karua claimed.
Karua says that Raila’s absence will be felt significantly in the upcoming 2027 General Elections.
According to the PLP leader, Ruto’s political career depends on his alignment with Raila’s ODM party.
Karua further hints at realignments in the ODM party, which could disadvantage the President, citing the division witnessed within the ODM party on the party’s relationship with Ruto.
The party leader went ahead and revealed her last conversation with Raila before his demise, claiming that the former Prime Minister revealed that he was uncomfortable in his relationship with Ruto.
Karua revealed that she wanted Raila to leave President Ruto’s government and let it collapse.
The PLP leader claimed that she had given Raila time to think about her proposal.
“I told him I don’t want an answer today, I’m leaving it with you to think, but he did say he was very uncomfortable,” she claimed.
During the interview, Karua also accused President Ruto of dictatorship and also blamed the government for allegedly neglecting its citizens who were detained in neighbouring countries.
Karua claims that the November by-elections were a lesson to the opposition to be more vigilant while insisting that the President will be a one-term president.
