Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has finally resurfaced days after missing public events, whether his own events or accompanying President William Ruto, amid speculations over his health.
Kindiki emerged on December 24, at a Christmas gifting event held at his Irunduni home in Tharaka Nithi.
The event was attended by thousands of residents from Tharaka Nithi who camped at the Deputy President’s residence to hear his end-of-year address and also get Christmas gifts.
Kindiki showered the thousands of residents with sacks filled with Christmas goodies as he wished them a Merry Christmas.
On Monday, December 22, CS Geoffrey Ruku had alleged that the Deputy President was absent at the Kimalel Goat Auction event presided over by President Ruto because he was not feeling well.
"Your Excellency, President, I have been sent by your deputy, who is sick. He told me that when I come here in Baringo for the goat auction, I should send his greetings," Ruku explained.
Hours later, Kindiki refuted the claims by the Cabinet Secretary, claiming that he was doing well.
He clarified on his social media platforms, where he wrote a four-word statement assuring Kenyans of his health.
“I am well, very well!” Kindiki’s statement read.
While addressing the residents at his home in Irunduni, the Deputy President addressed the rising number of road incidents witnessed in the country during the Christmas season.
Kindiki urged drivers to drive carefully on the roads, adhere to traffic rules, and care about the lives of their passengers.
His call comes hours after President William Ruto shared a similar message with Kenyans on maintaining road safety.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on December 24 revealed widespread non-compliance among motorists, saying that it has flagged 1,702 safety violations over the past four days.
