Uhuru Only Worked Hard While I was His Boss, Raila Claims

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has claimed that the only time President Uhuru Kenyatta worked hard for Kenyans was during the coalition government.

Odinga stated that at the time, he was head of government business and supervised Kenyatta, who was then the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.

He claimed that because of his strict supervision, ministers, including Kenyatta were forced to perform well, but decried that things turned for the worse after the 2013 election.

“During the coalition government, where Uhuru, (William) Ruto, (Musalia) Mudavadi and Kalonzo (Musyoka) were ministers and I was their boss, work was done for Kenyans. I used to task them because they were ministers in my government." Raila claimed.

The ODM party leader made the statements during a campaign tour in Meru County - a perceived stronghold for the Jubilee Party.

Odinga pleaded with Meru residents to vote for him in this year’s General Election.

The Opposition leader added that the Ameru community should not be hoodwinked by the Kikuyu community leaders, claiming that they had been getting a raw deal.

“They bring politics of tribes and keep saying the people of Central have to vote as brothers and I wonder what I have done to be branded the enemy of the people from this region. I am closer to you and you are cheated that I’m your enemy. They are just using the divide and rule method to cause tension,” Odinga stated.
