The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was on Wednesday ordered to name their Nairobi Senatorial contestant in 48 hours.
The Political Parties Disputes tribunal in their ruling noted that since ODM had not conducted Senatorial nominations in the city, the party should deliberate and issue submit a name of a preferred candidate in 2 days.
"Since no primaries were held, the only way to solve this dispute is to let the party decide.
"We are not here to micro-manage parties. Let the party decide who it wants to represent it in accordance with its constitution," the tribunal chairman Kyalo Mbobu stated.
The tribunal issued the order while delivering a ruling on a suit filed by Mr Gabriel Bukachi alias Chapia Chapia who was contesting the nomination of lawyer Edwin Sifuna by the party.
The party had earlier issued Chapia Chapia with the nomination certificate since no other candidate had expressed interest in the seat only for them to change their mind and award Sifuna the ticket to face Jubilee's candidate Johnson Sakaja.
The party on their part noted that the decision to award Sifuna was based on the fact that Bukachi had no resources to mount a serious campaign in the city.
