KANU Aspirant James Ratemo's 3 Children Missing in Uasin Gishu

Police are investigating an incident in which three children belonging to a KANU Party aspirant in Uasin Gishu County, disappeared in unclear circumstances.

The father of the three, James Ratemo – KANU’s candidate for Kapsoya ward – said his children went to Eldovil SDA Church in the company of their cousin on Saturday but failed to return.

A distraught Ratemo revealed that the three boys –  Clifford Nyambane, Dan Nyamweya and Glen Ongagi –  had been instructed to go to church ahead of their mother, but she could not find them when she arrived a few minutes later.

“When I reached the church, which is just 500 metres away, I could not find them. I assumed that they had gone to play with their friends but I was alarmed when they failed to come back home,” said Ratemo’s wife in agony.

Ratemo noted that they had searched for the boys everywhere including in children's homes and relatives’ houses but to no avail.

He, however, would not rule out foul play or politics in the matter, considering it was an electioneering period.

“I cannot rule out that the children’s disappearance is related to politics, but I cannot speculate. Let the police do their own investigations,” said Ratemo.

In a new twist, an uncle of the children, who was last seen with them, was questioned by police but denied any knowledge of their whereabouts.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan said investigations into the disappearances were underway.
