I Will not Jail Uhuru and Ruto, I will Give Them Jobs - Raila Declares

The National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga on Thursday stated that he would not jail President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto if he emerged victorious in this year’s General Election.

Speaking while addressing the media in Kibra, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader revealed that NASA did not have any problem with the two leaders and would not send them to jail but give them jobs after forming the next government.

“We do not have a problem with President Uhuru and his deputy Ruto. After we remove them from office, we will give them work to do and we will not jail them but show them how a government is run because it seems they are overwhelmed,” Odinga stated.

The former premier noted that the ruling party had failed to address pertinent issues facing Kenyans and were only pretending to offer solutions to the country by offering short-term solutions like in the maize issue.

“They are cheating people that they have brought maize from Mexico but this is just a temporary thing of one or two months because they are using it to seek for votes,” he stated.

The Opposition leader also questioned the late promises being offered by Jubilee stating that those were campaign tricks and Jubilee should have fulfilled the promises it made earlier.

“They have been in power for four years but they never did anything. Even if you give them 100 years, there is nothing they would accomplish,” he said.

On the matter of elections and specifically Nairobi County, the presidential hopeful dismissed Ruto sentiments that the ruling party would win most seats in the city stating that the deputy president was a political outsider in Nairobi and so could not purport to control city politics.

“Ruto is coming from Sugoit and knows nothing about Nairobi politics. Jogoo la shamba haiwezi wika mjini,” he said.

The former Prime Minister made the sentiments at Old Kibera Primary School where he had gone to verify his electronic voter registration status.
