One student died while others escaped with minor injuries on Friday night following a fire that swept through a dormitory at Barkowino Secondary School in Bondo, Siaya County.
The fire broke out shortly after the students retired to bed.
Though the cause of the inferno was yet to be established, Bondo Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Paul Kiarie stated that police officers were investigating the incident.
The body of the student was taken to Bondo District Hospital Mortuary.
This comes a month after another an 11-year-old girl died after she sustained a brain injury from a dormitory fire that broke out in GSU Primary School in Nairobi.
Fiona Wanjiru was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Nairobi Hospital where she stayed for several weeks before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital where she passed on.
